RIP Sam Simon

America's favorite yellow, cartoon family lost an important member today.

Sam Simon has died today at the age of 59 after a battle with colon cancer.

Simon, along with Matt Groening and James L. Brooks, was a co-creator for "The Simpsons." He helped establish the team and style that would create the longest-running and most successful animated primetime television series.

Other production credits under his belt include the "Taxi" television series, "Cheers," and "The Drew Carey Show."

When not producing television, Simon did a lot a great work with charities like Save the Children and was a renowned philanthropist.

Sam Simon was a good man and his contributions will continue to live on through the generations. I wish his family and loved ones the best in these dark times and hope they take solace in the fact that Simon did an immeasurable amount of good for this world.
